We are situated in the “Alta Tuscia” among neighbourhoods full of history; therefore, an excursion in the city of Vulci becomes a “must do”. It is indeed an ancient city that was abandoned when the Etruscan and the Romans left these lands around the VIII a.C.
Nowadays Vulci is an area that represents a very important piece of the Italian millennial history, an open-air museum that included buildings, monuments, statues, meeting points, roman thermae and the necropolis.
For sure there are few places in the world in which you will be able to visit an ancient city almost completed as Vulci is: you will be able to visit, indeed, not only ruins and rocks but also a lot of ancient palaces and graves reconstructed in decades by the archaeologists. Thanks to their work, you can nowadays visit Vulci as it was once upon a time, when the Etruscan were still living here.
The city is particularly famous for its ancient graves (where the most important is the “Francois grave”), place built for the eternal rest of the Nobles of that time, which are marvelous subterranean houses characterized by incredible frescos, survived to the centuries.
