I PRESENT to YOU MY CITY: SAN VITO DEI NORMANNI, is a typical village of the itria Valley of about 20,000 inhabitants. The town was founded around the ' Castello Dentice di Frasso, known for its Square Tower. The Castle, which for centuries has been built around the Tower, is a real treasure trove of history: nineteenth-century courtyards, staircases, Vietri ceramic tiled lounges, frescoed ceilings, hunting trophies, Lecce stone fireplaces, retrace with just the look all the beauty of this historic Manor House makes you look like a King! And, in fact, the King of Italy, Victor Emmanuel III, has also stayed here when he was at Brindisi in September 1943! \" It is here that was filmed Virna Lisi's latest film ' Latin Lover '.
WHAT MAKES SAN VITO:
1) the city is rich in churches of all stands the ' BASILICA SANTA MARIA DELLA VITTORIA, considered a jewel of the late sixteenth century. Inside, under a majestic vaulted ceiling, are seeing the altars in polychrome marble, carved organ case in gold leaf and the icon of the Holy Mother of God \"Nicopeia.\" In 1998, Pope John Paul II elevated this church a Papal Basilica minor ' '. Today's favorite stop to celebrate their wedding. Here, on the square outside, many bars;
2) ' CAVES of SAN BIAGIO ': these are three Crypts carved into the rock by the Basilian monks nearly a thousand years ago, as settlement: the cave of interest is the central one, since it's all painted with a single cycle of paintings in the South of Italy! \";
3) CASTELLO D'alceste: an archaeological site just outside the town that is the most recent discovery of an ancient Messapian town. These findings date back to the middle of the eighth century. BC, IE at the same age of the founding of Rome. Periodically in this museum there are concerts in addition to guided tours;
4) The ' MANDOLINISTICO ' in the Town Hall square. In San Vito dei Normanni mandolin art you learned in the salons of barbers. Now the teachers perform in the square with Mandolins and guitars in an intimate and precious.

The Prince's former wine factory cultural centre ' Fadda, from 7 to 20, 1000 m2 open to exhibitors from around the Salento: antique experts, fans of vintage, sellers of books and comics used, Atomic modern antiques and leather.
On 15 June is his feast day: you can see the silvery statue of the Saint, which is exposed to the veneration of the faithful. This is a real masterpiece of the ' 500, presumably recorded by Neapolitan hands, that on the day of the feast of the Saint is carried through the streets accompanied by all the brotherhoods San Vito.

Not only that: this festival has exported the Salento in major Italian cities through the tour's 100-minute shorts '.
San Vito is the town of ' SECURITY '. Stop looking at the entrances of houses covered from ' Ness ', ' strange items. There is even a habit of housewives to stay inside their homes, behind the ' Ness ', to observe and listen to what goes on outside, without being observed. In honor of this August it organizes the event ' REZZICA ' two days of great festivity and behind the shade will hide actors who with their microphones are ready to ' guidicarvi ' theatrically. A show improvised at the time with typical dances and food stalls serving local cuisine.
